The lab was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2008, passed the construction acceptance of the Ministry of Education in 2011, and passed the organization of the Ministry of Education in 2017. The key lab is regularly evaluated. Facing the needs of major industries in the country and Tianjin, starting from the organic whole of the theory and application research of computer vision and intelligent systems, it has built a scientific research and innovation platform from low-level vision to high-level vision, and then to the integration of visual perception application systems. It has formed relatively stable research directions such as image understanding and machine vision technology, multimedia data analysis, virtual reality and visualization, visual perception and detection technology.
